Just thinking about the cozy nights in, the endless supply of pumpkin spiced lattes and the ooh so comfy sweaters warms my heart. Once It hits September and I feel that chill in the air, my summer is officially over! The hunt for all things autumn takes over and I probably spend far too much on blankets and candles than I care to admit. But one can never have too many right? Priorities!
I think it’s fair to say at this point that I’m an autumn kind of girl. Summer’s great and all but the crispy air, fallen leaves, comfy pj’s and countless amount of hot drinks is more my thing. And as a homebody (to an extent), I like to feel as snug as possible in my own little sanctuary.
So, whether you’re looking to have a lazy day on the sofa or cozy night in, I’ve rounded up all the cozy autumn essentials to keep you snug at home throughout the season.
1. Blankets
Blankets are the best friends who embrace you and keep you comfy and cozy throughout the chilly days and nights. And before you ask, no, there’s no such thing as having too many. As a matter of fact, a whole mountain load is perfectly normal. You can get them knitted, faux fur, cotton or plaid, they’ll all do an amazing job at keeping you warm and snug.
2. Cushions and pillow throws
Ahh the good old cushions who serve more purposes than they’re probably made for. They’re inviting, aesthetically pleasing and make for the perfect lap companion for whatever’s in hand! I absolutely love stocking up on pillows during autumn, because nothing quite says cozy like a home filled to the brim with them right?
3. Slippers and socks
If you truly want to live the cozy autumn lifestyle, slippers and fuzzy socks are the comfy buddies that will keep your feet warm and toasty during the cold months. That said, I’m such a slipper girl that I wear them all the way up to mid-spring, don’t judge me. They’re just so soft and comfy, it’s hard to let go of them when the time comes. So when autumn hits, I’m like a kid in a candy store. We’re talking peep toes, extra fluffy, open back, slipper booties, the whole lot! I may or may not have a whole section of my wardrobe dedicated to them.
4. Pyjamas
I live in my pyjamas during autumn and if it wasn’t so socially frowned upon I’ll probably run errands in them too! You can’t think of a cozy and snug autumn day at home and not wear pj’s once in a while, it’s just criminal and completely unheard of.
Whether it’s short bottoms, a fluffy chunky dressing gown or your favourite pj set, pull it out, get comfy and soak in the cozy autumn bliss!
5. Hot water bottles
You can’t go wrong with a hot water bottle for a little extra warmth on a chilly day. Not only that, but it’s great for stomach cramps and lower back pains. So I call it a win for sure. I like my water bottles just like everything else in autumn. Snug and fluffy. So don’t go for a plain bottle, get one with a lovely fuzzy cover to get all the cozy feels.
6. Scented candles
My candle obsession is non-discriminatory and I’m guilty of owning a few too many scented candles all year round. But let’s be real, is it really autumn if you don’t have one or five scented candles hanging about? I mean, let’s set the scene, you’re sitting on the sofa watching your favourite tv show and there’s this lingering scent just hugging the air filling your every sense. Sounds a lot like a day spent well if you ask me!
Give me all things pumpkin, crispy apples, fireside and marshmellows and I’ll have one burning in every room. And if you’re more into wax melts, well the more the merrier I say!
7. Mugs
I probably stock up on way too many mugs during autumn and winter, and equally break my fair share, because life is all about balance right? But you open my kitchen cupboard and it’s mugs galore. Who am I but a mere human with desires to not fall for all the fall-themed mugs itching to be drunk from? And let’s be honest here, it’s the season for all things hot drinks so mugs are your new best friend.
