Acne and dark spots can be a total pain. It’s a vicious cycle that shows no mercy whatsoever. You get a pimple, pop it, it leaves behind a scar, you pick at it and there you have it – another dark spot appears. We’ve all been there and me a little often than I care to admit! The consequences can be difficult and exhausting to deal with, because nothing ever seems to work right?

Well, I’m here to tell you that hope isn’t lost just yet! I’ve finally been able to nail down the ultimate list of acne fighting products that have become my skin saviour. I still don’t have flawless skin (and probably never will, because who truly does?) but I’ve managed to gain back control. Apart from the squatter here and there, spots don’t live here anymore, see ya never!

So, if you’re struggling and need a hand to get rid of those pesky pimples, these products could be just the thing your skin needs to reduce acne and dark spots.

Please note: these are products I’ve used myself for the past 5 years to reduce my acne and dark spots. Some of these I no longer use as I’ve narrowed down my skincare essentials. All opinions are from my own personal experience.

Arbonne Clear Future range to clear acne and blemishes

This range has been in and out of my life from the moment I started using Arbonne. The products all contain salicylic acid and soothing botanical ingredients to balance the skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes and uneven skin tone.

I’m not a big fan of the lotion or acne treatment as I personally don’t think it made a huge difference. For this reason, I prefer to purchase the products individually. I now only use the blemish pads as a morning exfoliating toner along with the soothing overnight mask which isn’t included in the kit. The mask has a gel-like texture which can be a little sticky in the beginning but does dry up fairly quickly.

Arbonne DermResults to reduce acne and dark spots

The DermResults has now become my favourite range for acne scarring and uneven skin tone. I find that my skin has a healthy glow, is super clean and refreshed and my dark spots are fading much quicker. At the moment I use all four products in the range and can’t fault any of them. The only downside would probably be that it’s a little pricey but you do get a 20% plus discount if you sign up as a preferred client for a small annual fee.

Vitamin C is the main component in this range which supports a more radiant and even complexion without compromising the skins moisture barrier. If you’re after luminous, glowing skin and a good acne scar treatment DermResults is the holy grail in your skincare routine!

Arbonne SkinElixir Collagen Builder

Featuring biotin and a blend of sea buckthorn powder, pine bark extract, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, this skin powder is the ultimate powerhouse that’ll have you sipping your way to healthier clearer skin in no time!

I’m a big fan of supplementation and this powder doesn’t disappoint! It’s tasty and includes just the right balance of goodness to build healthier glowing skin from the inside out. I like to pour one sachet a day in no more than 200ml of water as I don’t like it too diluted. Like with any supplementation, you can’t truly know for sure if it helps but the product list is enough to say otherwise.

Civiant Meladerm Pigment Correction to fade acne and dark spots

I absolutely love Meladerm and don’t know what I’d do without it. It’s great for all skin types and skin tones and is perfect for all forms of hyperpigmentation. From acne scars, dark spots, melasma and discoloration, I use it everywhere!

It features botanical extracts to naturally and safely brighten and lighten the skin without all the harmful chemicals you’d see in other creams. To enhance its effectiveness, I use the AHA exfoliating serum and the SPF from the brand as they’re a killer combination! I usually mix up my skincare routine with this and the Arbonne DermResults range to give my skin the extra push it needs.

The ONLY downside is it can run out fairly quickly depending on how much you use and it’s a little pricey. If you’re purchasing from outside of the US, I’d say stock up on as much as you can as shipping is expensive and it takes a long time to arrive. And to note, they offer a 30 day money back guarantee so if it doesn’t work out for you, you have a little peace of mind.

CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser

I no longer use this cleanser but whilst I did use it, it proved to be quite effective at reducing breakouts. However, it can be a slow and agonising journey to get to where you want your skin to be at so don’t expect any miracles! The Cerave Blemish Control Gel Moisturiser works well alongside the cleanser, however, I wasn’t too keen on the texture of it.

The product is developed by dermatologists and features salicylic acid, niacinamide and ceramides to gently cleanse the face and unblock pores. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to clear your acne, this cleanser is for you. However, if you can splash a little bit more, I’d definitely recommend trying the brands above for faster, effective results.
